Weaving Wild – Winter
Focus on vines
Two Day Course – Cost – £160 Deposit £80
Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd December 2023
When plants are dormant and the sap is low it is the perfect time to harvest vines and other woody materials. We will predominantly work with brambles and ivy to explore the versatile technique of twining. We will also explore how to make simple frame baskets- a traditional basket used in many parts of the world.
This course is part of a series of 4. Each weekend course we will work with the seasons to learn how to forage, prepare and work with a variety of wild materials.
We will explore a range of traditional basketry techniques including looping, twining, coiling and cordage to create unique and beautiful baskets.
The courses will open your eyes to the craft possibilities that exist in every garden, hedgerow, riverside, bog and wasteland!
There is the opportunity to camp at the Centre with access to kitchen, w.c. and shower. There is a small charge of £5 per person/per night.
A simple mid-day meal will be provided each day.
If you book on all four courses you will get a discount of £40 for the last (Weaving Wild- Winter) course.
