Bowl carving (October 2025)

One Day Course: Cost - £85. Deposit - £45.

Learn to carve a wooden bowl using the simplest of tools and most basic materials.

In this one day course you’ll make a wooden bowl using gouges and  a mallet. 

In a small group setting you’ll learn all you need to make a simple live edge bowl from locally sourced materials.

Working with Doug Don, a local green woodworker, you’ll start with a log and through the use of traditional tools and processes you’ll cleave, chop and carve a wooden blank into a bowl.

During the day you’ll also learn about the different kinds of timber you can use, the tools you need and a little bit of the history and art behind this amazing craft. You should leave the day with a bowl and all the knowledge you need to start carving bowls for yourself.
